LONG REACH HIGH SCHOOL
National Honor Society

-
Long Reach High School's National Honor Society is a local National Honor Society (NHS) chapter.
-
The mission of the National Honor Society (founded in 1921) is "to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools" (NHS Constitution, Article I).
-
Schools across the United States maintain NHS chapters, comprising more than one million students in total.
-
NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of character, scholarship, leadership, and service.
-
The Long Reach NHS chapter was founded in 1996 and has inducted hundreds of members since its inception.

During the 2023-2024 school year, the Long Reach NHS will continue to sponsor Grassroots and other community groups in the hope that its members and the community at large can both benefit. Long Reach's local chapter includes selected juniors and seniors as well as transfer members from other schools. Members are required to attend meetings and participate in school-sponsored and individual service activities.
